God Is About To Shake It Again

Drawing from Hebrews 12:26-29, this powerful message reminds us that God is actively shaking things in our lives—not to destroy us, but to remove everything that doesn't belong. Like shaking a fruit tree to reveal what's ripe and what's barely hanging on, God's shaking exposes relationships, habits, and mindsets that have reached their expiration date. The imagery is vivid: when young boys shake a plum tree, everything that falls had already reached its time to go. Similarly, when God shakes our lives, He's not being cruel—He's being clear about what needs to leave so we can move forward. The sermon challenges us to examine what we're holding onto that God is trying to shake loose. Are we refusing to hear His voice because we're comfortable with chaos? Are we resisting divine order because order exposes our true commitments? The text reveals that God doesn't just shake the earth beneath us—He shakes the heavens above us, meaning nothing is beyond His reach. This isn't about punishment; it's about purification. When we can't endure God's order, we reveal that we prefer the comfort of disorder where our true motives can hide. But God is calling us to higher ground, to a place where we can finally sing praises from solid footing. The question becomes: will we allow the shaking, or will we keep picking up what God has already removed from our lives?
